I sketch and draw Windsor and Essex County ‘on location’ reached by bicycle as well as back in the studio using my own photographs.

I can’t recall a time when I haven’t loved drawing but I can recall plenty of times when I haven’t been active drawing because I’ve been doing other necessary and unnecessary things. Yeah?

Thing is, drawing is one of those things that is so much a part of who I am if I am not doing it at all then I am not fully me. Why do we do this to ourselves? That’s rhetorical, don’t feel you need to answer that.

I can’t recall a time that I haven’t loved bicycling, not since I got my first bike at age 13 (I know, late bloomer). In spite of the scaremongering and general ignorance of motorists and bicyclists equally, bikes (excluding children’s sized bikes) belong on the road and biking in Windsor and Essex County can be a safe enjoyable experience. It’s certainly cost effective and you become more in touch with your community by biking about.

I can’t recall a time since arriving in Windsor in 1999 that I haven’t been anywhere from a little bit, to a whole heaping lot, at odds with being here. Yeah? Until recently when a few things happened, one of them being that I decided to come to terms with being here by drawing HERE.

And really, this place, so forgotten, so maligned by many elsewhere along with other post industrial driven economies and post auto based economies is a beautiful place with resilient, generous people. In biking and sketching in Windsor and Essex County I am celebrating the area, its people and being who I am, HERE. {thrive!}
